Holiday Toys for Kids drive

There is nothing more magical than the look on the faces of children as they're opening presents -- that glow of excitement and anticipation that is inspired by the crinkle of wrapping paper under young fingers.

But for many area youths, such magical moments will be rare or nonexistent this holiday season.

You can help bring a glow to the face of a youngster during this "season of giving" by taking part in the Holiday Toys for Kids drive, which is once again being sponsored by Yale's Office of New Haven Affairs.

Members of the Yale community are asked to leave a donation of a new, wrapped toy suitable for a boy or girl between the ages of 5 and 13 in one of the collection boxes placed around campus.

The toys will be picked up no later than Wednesday, Dec. 16, and will be distributed to children attending the New Haven Boys and Girls Club's annual holiday party on Friday, Dec. 18.

The collection sites for the Holiday Toys for Kids drive are: Office of New Haven Affairs, second floor, 433 Temple St.; Payne Whitney Gymnasium, 70 Tower Pkwy.; Ray Tompkins House, 20 Tower Pkwy.; Berkeley Divinity School and Center, 363 St. Ronan St.; Kline Biology Tower dining room, top floor, 219 Prospect St.; School of Management's Donaldson Commons, 140 Prospect St.; Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall, first floor, Grove and Prospect streets; Woodbridge Hall, basement, 105 Wall St.; Sterling Hall of Medicine rotunda, 333 Cedar St.; School of Nursing, reception, student lounge and locker room, 100 Church St. South; Physical Plant, various locations, 2 Whitney Ave.; Yale University Health Services, 17 Hillhouse Ave.; Yale University Art Gallery, employee area, 1111 Chapel St.; and Dunham Laboratory, second floor, 10 Hillhouse Ave.
