Special program at ISM marks publication
of Bryan Spinks' book, 'To Glorify God'

The Institute of Sacred Music (ISM) will present a special program on Thursday, March 25, to celebrate the publication of "To Glorify God," a book co-edited by Yale faculty member Bryan Spinks.

Spinks, chair of ISM's liturgical studies program and a professor at the Divinity School, edited the volume with Iain Torrance of the department of divinity at the University of Aberdeen. "To Glorify God" is a collection of essays which compares the doctrine and theology of the Book of Common Worship of the Presbyterian Church of the United States of America (PCUSA) and the Book of Common Order of the Church of Scotland.

The book will be discussed by the Reverend Barrie Shepherd, minister of First Presbyterian Church in New York City, at 4 p.m. in ISM's Great Hall, 409 Prospect St. Shepherd chaired the General Assembly committee when the new Book of Common Worship of the PCUSA was produced in 1993.

All persons concerned about worship and sacred music are invited to attend the afternoon celebrations, which will also include a worship service at 5:30 p.m. in Marquand Chapel, and a reception for Spinks and Torrance at 6 p.m. in the Great Hall.
