Symposium on global climate change
marks anniversary of landmark report

The School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (F&ES) is sponsoring a symposium on "Global Climate Change" on Friday, Nov. 12, to mark the 20th anniversary of the first report on how carbon dioxide emissions were bringing about global warming.

The symposium will be held at 10 a.m. in the auditorium at Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse Ave.

The main speaker will be Jerry Mahlman, director of the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at Princeton University. The title of his talk is: "Global Warming: Implications for Practically Everything."

Thomas Graedel, professor at F&ES, who also holds adjunct posts in the chemical engineering and geology and geophysics departments, will speak about the anniversary of the landmark report by the National Academy of Sciences. The report, "Carbon Dioxide and Climate: A Scientific Assessment," outlined the impact of increasing concentrations of carbon dioxide on global climate.
