Harshav to be honored

A festschrift has been published in Israel in honor of Benjamin J. Harshav, professor of comparative literature and the Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Professor of Hebrew Language and Literature.

To celebrate this milestone, the comparative literature department, the Whitney Humanities Center and the Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale have invited Harshav to deliver a speech on "Marc Chagall: Modernism and the Multicultural Artist" at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6, at the Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall St. The event is free and open to the public.

Later, at 6:30 p.m., there will be a reception at the Slifka Center, 80 Wall St., where Harshav will sign copies of his books "The Meaning of Yiddish" and "Language in a Time of Revolution," recently released by Stanford University.
