The University's English Language Institute offers the following courses for the spring term. Beginning the week of January 24 and continuing for eleven weeks, the courses are designed for graduate and professional students and for students whose academic or professional goals require an advanced level of English language proficiency. The courses focus on specific academic goals: improving oral presentation skills, expository writing skills, strategies for academic argument and American English pronunciation.
Advanced Writing Workshop
Tuesday & Thursday, 4:30-6 p.m. Location to be announced. Begins Feb. 1.
Pronunciation Workshop
Introductory Section. Lecture, Tuesday, 7:30-9:30 p.m. Practicum, Monday & Thursday. Location to be announced. Begins January 25.
Advanced Section. Lecture, Wednesday, 4-6 p.m. Rm. 205, Bass Center, 266 Whitney Ave. Begins Jan. 26.
Pronunciation Mini-Workshops
Saturdays, Jan. 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 12, 10 a.m.-noon, plus tutorials. Rm. 113, William L. Harkness Hall. Students must attend the full series of three workshops.
Integrated Skills
Section One (for graduate students only). Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Location to be announced. Begins Jan. 31.
Section Two (for graduate students only). Monday & Wednesday, 5:30-7 p.m. Location to be announced. Begins Jan. 31.
Section Three. Tuesday & Thursday, 4:30-6 p.m. Location to be announced. Begins Jan. 25.
