The Department of Comparative Literature is hosting this year's annual meeting of the American Comparative Literature Association, which will bring some 400 scholars from around the world to campus Friday-Sunday, Feb. 25-27.
The theme of the conference is "Interdisciplinary Studies: In the Middle, Across or In Between?" In keeping with that theme, the participants will represent a wide range of disciplines, from the humanities to the social and natural sciences.
The event will include 40 seminars addressing such topics as "Biomedical Sciences and Popular Culture," "Fictional Histories/Historical Fictions," "Deadly Aesthetics" and "Text to Screen/Screen to Text," among others. A complete program can be found online at www.yale.edu/complit/acla2000.htm.
Admission to the conference is free for members of the Yale community, but those who plan to attend more than one event must register prior to the conference by filling out the registration form at the website listed above.
