School of Music professor and violist Jesse Levine will conduct the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra in a concert on Saturday, Feb. 12, devoted to the music of American composers.
Titled "The Spirit of America," the performance will also feature School of Music student and award-winning soprano Mary Petro, who will sing Samuel Barber's "Andromache's Farewell." Petro recently appeared as Mimi in the Yale Opera production of "La Bohème."
The program also features music by Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Charles Ives and Lucas Foss, as well as Aaron Copland's "Lincoln Portrait," which will be narrated by WTNH News Channel 8 co-anchor Keith Kountz.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. in the Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East Ave. in Norwalk. Tickets are $20-$35, with discounted prices for senior citizens and students. For credit card orders, call (203) 866-2455.
