Economic development is focus of conference

The Yale School of Management (SOM) will host its third biannual Economic Development Conference on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25 and 26.

Titled "New Currents in Economic Development: Creating and Channeling Value," the conference aims to advance the field of economic development through substantive discussions about new currents and innovations in the field. Morning sessions will consist of panel discussions on recent trends in economic development and afternoon sessions will feature interactive cases facilitated by practitioners in the field. Students, alumni, faculty and members of the greater New Haven community are invited to attend.

The main conference program will begin on Saturday, Feb. 26, with an address by SOM Dean Jeffrey Garten and an overview of the field of economic development by Andrea Levere (SOM '83) of the Corporation for Enterprise Development. The keynote address will be given by Hilary Pennington (SOM '83), president of Jobs for the Future, a national organization dedicated to workforce development. On Friday, Feb. 25, the conference will sponsor a career day to provide students the chance to explore internship and career opportunities with alumni.

For more information or conference registration materials, email the Economic Development Student Interest Group at econdev@mail.yale.edu.
