Friends of the late Chester Kerr are invited to a gathering in remembrance of the former director of the Yale University Press at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 1, at 302 Temple St.
Mr. Kerr was a Yale College alumnus who spent three decades of his publishing career at the Press. Among the wide range of books published during his reign as director are Robert Manson Myers' "The Children of Pride" and Sidney Ahlstrom's "A Religious History of the American People" -- both National Book Award winners in 1972 -- and Mark Girouard's "Life in an English Country House." He died on Aug. 22, 1999 at the age of 86.
