Baseball (11-23, 2-9 Ivy)

Senior Sudha Reddy (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) pitched a complete-game shutout as the Bulldogs blanked Harvard 8-0 in the first game of a doubleheader on April 16 at Yale Field. Reddy struck out seven, did not issue a walk and allowed only six hits. Senior Tony Coyne (Huntingtown, MD) had two hits and three RBI, and freshman Darren Beasley (Ramseur, NC) had three hits and two RBI. The Crimson won the second game 6-1.

On April 15, the Bulldogs beat Harvard 4-0. Sophomore Matt McCarthy (Winter Springs, FL) pitched a seven-hit shutout. He struck out six and walked one. Yale scored all four runs in the fifth inning.

On April 12 Yale topped Iona 12-7. Coyne, senior Brian Ivy (Austin, TX) and freshman Dave Fortenbaugh (Rocky River, OH) all homered. Freshman Eric Naison-Phillips (Brooklyn, NY) pitched six innings to earn his first career win.

The Bulldogs host Harvard in a single game on April 17 at 2 p.m. and then play Wagner at Yale Field on April 19 at 3 p.m. Yale travels to Dartmouth to play doubleheaders on April 21 and April 22. The first pitch is slated for noon each day.


Heavyweight Crew (0-1, 0-1 Ivy)

The Bulldogs' varsity lost to Dartmouth by nine seconds in a race on April 15 on the Housatonic River. Yale finished in 5:54.2. The Bulldogs won the junior varsity and first freshman races.

Yale takes on Columbia and Pennsylvania on April 22 in Orchard Beach, NY.


Lightweight Crew (5-0, 4-0 Ivy)

The Bulldogs' varsity captured the Dodge Cup by edging Columbia and Pennsylvania on April 15 in Orchard Beach, NY. Yale finished in 5:45.0, Columbia was second (5:45.3) and Pennsylvania placed third (6:03.8). The Bulldogs also won the second varsity and first and second freshman races.

On April 16 Yale cruised to victories over Georgetown and Cornell in Ithaca, NY. The Bulldogs finished in 6:22.7, nearly 14 seconds ahead of second-place Georgetown (6:37.0). Cornell was third in 6:40.5. Yale also won the junior varsity and first freshman races.

The Bulldogs race Rutgers and Dartmouth for the Durand Cup on April 22 in New Jersey.


Women's Crew (6-1, 4-1 Ivy)

Yale's varsity eight beat both Dartmouth and Boston University on April 15 in a race on the Housatonic River. The Bulldogs finished in 6:20.6. Boston University was second (6:24.4) and Dartmouth was third (6:30.8). Yale finished second in the second varsity and third in the first novice.

The Bulldogs race Princeton on Lake Carnegie on April 22.


Men's Golf

The Bulldogs finished third with a 54-hole score of 910 at the Ivy League Championships April 15-16 at the Metedeconk National Golf Course in Jackson, NJ. Princeton was first (895) and Pennsylvania was second (904). Yale had two players earn All-Ivy honors by virtue of their finish. Junior Louis Aurelio (Fort Myers, FL) and sophomore Nate Mickelson (Kemmerer, WY) both tied for fifth with scores of 225.

The Bulldogs are at the New England Championships April 18-19.


Women's Golf

Yale captured the Ivy League Championship April 15-16 for the third time in the last four years. The Bulldogs finished with a two-round score of 640, 10 strokes ahead of second-place Princeton. Sophomore Sarah Seo (Lima, OH) captured the individual championship, edging out Princeton's Adrienne Gill in a one-hole playoff. Seo shot a 153, including a 75 in the second round. Senior Chawwadee Rompothong (Yonkers, NY) and sophomore Annie Scholz (Orlando, FL) also earned All-Ivy honors. Rompothong placed fourth with a 160 and Scholz was seventh with a 166.


Men's Lacrosse (6-4, 1-3 Ivy)

Sophomore Brian Hunt (West Chester, PA) scored four goals and added five assists as Yale cruised to a 16-9 non-league victory over Albany on April 15. Senior Chris McIntyre (Pine Brook, NJ) had four goals, and sophomore Marko Lujic (North Haven, CT) and freshman Mike Scaglione (Huntington, NY) each scored twice.

On April 12 freshman Eric Wenzel (Garden City, NY) made three saves in his first career start as the Bulldogs beat Boston College 15-6. Scaglione had three goals and McIntyre scored twice.

Yale plays at Dartmouth on April 19 at 3 p.m. and hosts Harvard on April 22 at 1 p.m.


Women's Lacrosse (9-3, 3-2 Ivy)

Sophomore Amanda Walton (Chestnut Hill, MA) had eight goals and two assists as Yale walloped Notre Dame 17-3 on April 15 in Durham, NC. Senior Heather Bentley (Cold Spring Harbor, NY) added three goals.

On April 16 the Bulldogs dropped a 17-4 decision at fourth-ranked Duke. Bentley scored twice.

On April 12 Yale scored the first 10 goals of the game and cruised to a 17-7 Ivy League win over Columbia at Yale Bowl. Junior Katherine Myers (Ardsley-on-Hudson, NY) led the onslaught with three goals as 12 different players scored.

The Bulldogs host Brown on April 19 at 4 p.m. and are at Cornell on April 22 at 1 p.m.


Softball (14-19-1, 3-4 Ivy)

Freshman Jesseka Bartholomew (Lake Forest, CA) knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning with an infield single as Yale came from behind to beat Dartmouth 3-2 in the second game of a doubleheader on April 16. Senior Khelia Johnson (Scottsdale, AZ) and junior Kristen Maturo (Orange, CT) both had two hits, and senior Teri Hickey (Tenino, WA) scattered 11 hits to earn her fifth win of the season. Dartmouth won the first game 3-2. Senior Kathy Ching (Portland, OR) had two hits and a stolen base.

On April 15 the Bulldogs fell 10-3 to Harvard. Senior Ginger Dunn (Miami, FL) had three doubles.

On April 12 Yale lost a doubleheader at Central Connecticut 2-1 and 1-0. Junior Monica Lebron (San Jose, CA) had two hits in the first game.

The Bulldogs host Harvard in a single game on April 17 and then play home doubleheaders against Boston College on April 19 at 3 p.m., against Cornell on April 21 at 1 p.m. and against Columbia on April 22 at noon.


Men's Tennis (8-11, 1-4 Ivy)

Junior Scott Carlton (Upland, CA) was a straight sets winner in the No. 2 singles position as Yale edged Cornell 4-3 on April 14. Other singles winners were senior Kevin Park (Rockford, IL) and sophomores Chris Shackelton (Reno, NV) and Ryan Smith (Leawood, KS).

On April 15 the Bulldogs fell to Columbia 5-2.

On April 12 Yale lost to Brown 6-1.

The Bulldogs host Dartmouth on April 21 at 2:30 p.m. and then play at Harvard on April 22 at 2 p.m.


Women's Tennis (12-9, 3-2 Ivy)

Freshman Elizabeth Kaufman (La Jolla, CA) saved two match points in her singles victory, and sophomore Elizabeth Oosterhuis (McLean, VA) won a third-set tie breaker as Yale edged Columbia 5-4 on April 15 in New Jersey.

On April 14 the Bulldogs beat Cornell 5-4. Senior Jacklyn Fu (Hong Kong) was a straight sets winner at No. 2 singles.

On April 11 Yale beat Brown 8-1.

The Bulldogs play at Dartmouth on April 21 at 2 p.m. and then return home to host Harvard on April 22 at 2:30 p.m.


Men's Track

At the Columbia Invitational on April 15, junior Jason Rife (Lincoln, NE) won the 400 dash with a time of 48.18. Freshman Allen Czerwinski (Thompson Falls, MT) was third in the javelin (1948 79) and senior Brian Yates (Hanover, NH) was fourth in the hammer throw (1548 59).

Yale hosts Harvard on April 22 at noon.


Women's Track

Senior Diane Potkay (Derby, CT) won the hammer throw (1488 69), the discus (1348 49) and the shot put (408 119) as Yale topped Pennsylvania and Princeton in a double dual meet on April 15. The Bulldogs finished with 89 points. Penn was second (62) and Princeton placed third (41). Junior Yetsa Tuakli-Wosornu (Chestnut Hill, MA) won both the long jump (198 5.259) and the triple jump (388 9.759), and sophomore Sikira Backus (Princeton, NJ) won the 200 (25.60) and 400 (57.12) dashes.

Yale hosts Harvard on April 22 at noon.
