Dr. William Sledge

Sledge reappointed Calhoun College master

Dr. William Sledge, professor of psychiatry, has been reappointed as master of Calhoun College for a five-year term that will begin July 1.

In a letter to the Calhoun College community, President Richard C. Levin noted that the reappointment was recommended by a committee of the residential college's students and fellows, which was chaired by Charles D. Bailyn, chair and professor of astronomy.

"The committee, in reporting to me, described the great creativity, energy, caring and sense of humor that Master Sledge has brought to the students, fellows and staff of Calhoun College," wrote Levin. "Master Sledge contributes regularly to Calhoun intramurals (I am told that he is known as the 'Great White Shark' of the Calhoun inner-tube water polo team); Associate Master Betsy Sledge manages Fellows' events and a large number of master's teas and has increased the popularity and vigor of the Calhoun Mellon Forum for Seniors."
