Senior Tony Coyne (Huntingtown, MD) homered in a four-run eighth inning as the Bulldogs topped Wagner 6-2 in a non-league game on April 19 at Yale Field. Freshman Steven Duke (Bayside, NY) added three hits.
On April 23 the Bulldogs dropped a doubleheader at Dartmouth 8-0 and 7-6. Junior R.D. DeSantis (Dunedin, FL) had two of Yale's five hits in the first game. Dartmouth scored the winning run of the second game on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning. Junior Brian Ivy (Austin, TX) hit a solo home run.
Yale plays another doubleheader at Dartmouth on April 24 at noon and then plays one nine-inning game with Harvard on April 26 at 1 p.m at Yale Field. The Bulldogs conclude the season with a back-to-back doubleheader with Brown on April 28 in New Haven and April 29 in Providence.
Heavyweight Crew (0-3, 0-3 Ivy)
In the battle for the Blackwell Cup, Yale's varsity boat fell to Pennsylvania and Columbia. Penn was first in 6:08.3, Columbia was second in 6:12.8, and the Bulldogs placed third in 6:13.5. Yale won the second varsity race in 6:44.7 and the first freshman race in 6:36.1

Lightweight Crew (7-0, 5-0 Ivy)
The Bulldogs' varsity captured the Durand Cup by beating Rutgers and Dartmouth on April 22 on the Raritan River in New Brunswick, NJ. Yale finished in 5:21.50, nearly two seconds ahead of second-place Rutgers (5:23.05). Dartmouth came in at 5:30.05. The Bulldogs also won the first freshman race in 5:32.50.
Yale races Harvard and Princeton on the Housatonic River in Derby on April 29.
Women's Crew (7-2, 4-2 Ivy)
Yale's varsity finished second with a time of 6:57.39 in a race with Princeton and Virginia on April 22 on Lake Carnegie. Princeton was first in 6:55.30 and Virginia came in at 6:58.84. The Bulldogs finished third in the second varsity and the first novice.
Yale races Harvard on April 29 on the Charles River.
Men's Golf
Yale finished in a tie for fourth with a two-round score of 621 at the New England Championships on April 20-21 at the Country Club of Fairfield. Senior Peter Schumacher (Alpine, CA) was the Bulldogs' medalist. He shot 152 to tie for 10th place. Sophomore Brant Rubin (Palatine, IL) tied for 12th with a 153.
Yale is at the URI/Cleveland Golf Spring Invitational on April 24-25 at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, RI.
Men's Lacrosse (8-4, 3-3 Ivy)
Senior Chris McIntyre (Pine Brook, NJ), junior Mike Morris (Lutherville, MD) and sophomore Brian Hunt (West Chester, PA) all scored three goals as Yale cruised to a 14-5 victory over Harvard on April 22 at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium. The Bulldogs, who have won five straight games, led 9-2 at halftime.
On April 19 Yale topped Dartmouth 10-4. Hunt led the scoring with four goals. Freshman Mike Scaglione (Huntington, NY) added three goals and sophomore Marko Lujic (North Haven, CT) had two goals and two assists.
Yale concludes the season at Maryland on April 28 at 8 p.m.
Women's Lacrosse (10-4, 4-3 Ivy)
Junior Kate Flatley (Greenwich, CT) scored five goals as the Bulldogs cruised to a 12-3 victory over Brown on April 19 at Yale Bowl. Sophomore Amanda Walton (Chestnut Hill, MA) and freshman Clarissa Clarke (Huntington, NY) both added a pair of goals.
On April 22 Yale dropped a 10-4 decision at 17th-ranked Cornell. Junior Clara Gillespie (Alexandria, VA) had a goal and an assist, and freshman Amanda Sisley (Old Greenwich, CT) made 12 saves in goal.
The Bulldogs host Rutgers on April 26 at 4 p.m. at Yale Bowl and then conclude the regular season at Johns Hopkins on April 29 at 11 a.m.
Softball (14-19-1, 3-4 Ivy)
Senior Kathy Ching (Portland, OR) had three hits, including a pair of RBI doubles, as Yale rallied from a 5-0 deficit to defeat Cornell 9-7 in the second game of a doubleheader on April 22. The Bulldogs scored twice in the fifth inning to snap a 7-7 tie. Junior Monica Lebron (San Jose, CA) drove home the first run with a sacrifice fly, and freshman Jen Roberston (Manhattan Beach, CA) followed with an RBI single. Sophomore Cara Denver (Vancouver, WA) did not allow an earned run in 5.2 innings of relief to earn the win on the mound. Cornell won the first game 4-3. Junior Alice Liu (San Jose, CA) had two hits, including an RBI double.
On April 19 the Bulldogs swept a doubleheader from Boston College, winning both games in dramatic fashion. Senior Carlie Ware (Mountain View, CA) singled in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning of both games. Ware's RBI single to right field capped a three-run rally as Yale took the first game 6-5. The Bulldogs captured the second game 3-2 on Ware's two-out single to centerfield.
The Bulldogs host New Haven City on April 25. Quinnipiac plays New Haven in the first game at noon, followed by the Southern Connecticut-Yale game at 2 p.m. The championship game is at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs play a doubleheader with Brown on April 28 at 1 p.m. and a single game with Harvard on April 29 at 2 p.m.
Men's Tennis (9-12, 2-5 Ivy)
Yale blanked Dartmouth 7-0 on April 21 at Cullman Courts. Juniors Scott Carlton (Upland, CA) and Greg Royce (Rye, NY), senior Kevin Park (Rockford, IL) and sophomore Ryan Smith (Leawood, KS) all won three-set matches.
On April 22 the Bulldogs fell 6-1 at Harvard in the final match of the season. Park was a 7-6, 6-1 winner in the No. 6 singles position.
Women's Tennis (12-11, 3-4 Ivy)
Yale's season came to an end with a 7-2 loss to Harvard on April 22 at Cullman Courts. Freshman Elizabeth Kaufman (La Jolla, CA) and sophomore Elizabeth Oosterhuis (McLean, VA) won in singles.
On April 21 the Bulldogs fell 6-2 at Dartmouth. Winners for Yale were sophomore Andrea Goldberg (Albuquerque, NM) and junior Lauren Muehl (Orange Park, FL).
Men's Track
Junior Jason Rife (Lincoln, NE) was the recipient of the Treasurer's Trophy as Yale edged Harvard 84-79 on April 22. Rife was a part of four event wins, including the 100 and 200 dashes. Senior Brian Yates (Hanover, NH) also was a double winner. He captured the hammer throw and the
discus.
The Bulldogs are at the Penn Relays on April 27-29 and then host the Yale Invitational on April 30.
Women's Track
The 4x100 relay team of juniors Jennifer Newsom (Golden Valley, MN) and Yetsa Tuakli-Wosornu (Chestnut Hill, MA) and sophomores Meghan O'Brien (Guilford, CT) and Sikira Backus (Princeton, NJ) set a school record with a time 47.31 as Yale beat Harvard 82-72 on April 22 in New Haven. Backus also set a school record in the 200 dash, winning with a time of 24.85.
The Bulldogs are at the Penn Relays on April 27-29 and then host the Yale Invitational on April 30.
