David Bromwich earns prestigious
award for his literary works

The American Academy of Arts and Letters presented the Academy Award in Literature to David Bromwich '73 B.A., '77 Ph.D., the Bird White Housum Professor of English, at the academy's annual ceremonial in New York on May 17.

Bromwich is the author of four nonfiction books: "Hazlitt, the Mind of a Critic," "A Choice of Inheritance: Self and Community from Edmund Burke to Robert Frost," "Politics by Other Means: Higher Education and Group Thinking" and "Disowned by Memory: Wordsworth's Poetry of the 1790s." His essays and reviews have appeared in the Journal of Philosophy, The New Republic, New York Review of Books, Raritan and Dissent magazine.
