1999-2000 University Directory arriving soon

Staff and faculty who need further proof that a new academic year has begun will soon have that evidence firmly in hand.

The Yale University Directory 1999-2000 will arrive on campus the week of Sept. 20. The 12,400 copies will be distributed to each person listed in the Directory by the end of the month -- 10,400 via Campus Mail and 2,000 to volunteer faculty through their home departments.

The information printed in the Directory derives from the University's Oracle database, and is current as of Aug. 15, 1999. However, the most up-to-date business information for Yale individuals (including their title, department, office address and telephone and email address) is available via Yale's on-line directory. This information is updated daily.

Users can connect to the on-line directory through Yale's "front door" on the World Wide Web (www.yale.edu). To access, click on "About Yale," then choose "Directories," then "Yale Phonebook." Users can also go directly to the YaleInfo website (www.yale.edu/yaleinfo) and choose "phonebook," which appears in red letters at the top of the page. The on-line directory is also available through Eudora Pro and (until it ends on Oct. 15) Quickmail email.

Departmental orders for additional copies are easier to place this fall. There is now an on-line order form through the University's Policies and Procedures home page at www.yale.edu/ppdev/forms/procure/DirOrder.html. To receive a paper order form, contact Jean Fappiano at 432-2318. Additional copies are $11.90 each.

Yale employees may also purchase additional copies of the Directory at the departmental price at the Visitor Information Center, 149 Elm St., during regular business hours. Payment is by cash or check, and employees must present a valid Yale I.D. at time of purchase.
