"The Classroom," an oil painting by Yale alumnus and staff member Brian Schmidt, is one of the works on view in the 100th anniversary exhibition of the New Haven Paint & Clay Club, the oldest, still active art organization in New England. Schmidt earned a M.F.A. from the School of Art in 1989 and is a senior administrative assistant there. His painting is among 108 works by 108 artists on view in the exhibition. An opening reception for the exhibit will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2-5 p.m. at the John Slade Ely house, 51 Trumbull St. in New Haven, the site of the main exhibit of 100 works.
