Concerts will feature early sacred music
The Yale Collegium Musicum, directed by Nicole Biamonte, will present two free concerts of sacred early music. Titled "The Marian Motet: 1200-1600," the program will follow the development of a musical form, the motet, from the late Middle Ages to the end of the Renaissance, including music by Dufay, Josquin, Lassus, Palestrina, Byrd and others. The motets in the program were all written in honor of the Virgin Mary. The concerts, which will feature instrumental as well as vocal music, will take place on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 5 p.m. at the Stony Creek Church of Christ in Branford and on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. at Christ Church in New Haven.
