For his outstanding effort against Colgate on Dec. 4, Chris Leanza '03 was named Ivy League Player of the Week.

Sophomore Chris Leanza (Parma, OH) tied the Yale record with eight three-pointers against Vermont. He made 9 of 16 shots from the field and 8 of 13 three-pointers en route to tying his career high with 33 points. In the victory over Colgate, Leanza led the Bulldogs with 18 points and five assists in 39 minutes. For his effort he was selected as the Ivy League Player of the Week.

Senior Tom Kritzer (West Chester, OH) had the best game of his career against Vermont. He made 7 of 8 shots from the field and finished with a career-high 17 points.

Yale made a school record 15 three-pointers against Vermont.


Women's Basketball (3-5, 0-0 Ivy)

Dec. 8 -- Yale 76, Lafayette 61

This Week: Dec. 13 at Central Connecticut, 7 p.m.

Sophomore Maria Smear (Annapolis, MD) led the Bulldogs in scoring in each of their two wins. Against Hartford, Smear had 24 points, including a three-pointer with 42 seconds left in the second half that gave the Bulldogs the lead for good. Against Lafayette she scored 10 of her 16 points in the second half as Yale broke open a close game. For her efforts she was selected as the Ivy League Player of the Week.

Junior Caitlin Bair (Highland, MD) scored a career-high 11 points, all in the first half, against Lafayette.

Senior Adam Sauve (Sudbury, ONT) scored the game-winning goal at 13:41 of the third period in the win over RPI. Sophomore Nick Deschenes (Morinville, ALB) added a pair of goals, and senior Jeff Hamilton (Englewood, OH) had three assists.


Women's Ice Hockey (1-11-0, 1-9-0 ECAC)

Senior Lisa Meyers (Skokie, IL) scored twice against Northeastern.

Freshman Nicolette Franck (Burlington, ONT) made 41 saves in the loss to Providence.

Yale had two first-place and two second-place finishes at the Boston University Invitational. Senior Jason Rife (Lincoln, NE) won the 400-meter dash (49.50) and was second in the 200 dash (22.60). Sophomore Anthony Thomas (Bethel, CT) won the long jump (22'4.25") and freshman Taylor Larson (Anderson, SC) was second in the pole vault (14').

The Bulldogs had four individual winners at the Boston University Invitational. Junior Sikira Backus (Princeton, NJ) won the 500 run (1:15.97), senior Emily Estey (Wellfleet, MA) captured the 1000 run (2:52.21), senior Melanie Harris (New Rochelle, NY) won the weight throw (54' 1.25") and senior Jennifer Newsom (Golden Valley, MN) won the long jump (17'11.75").
