The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) selected five members of the School of Music faculty to receive 2000-2001 ASCAPLU$ Standard Awards.
The cash awards reflect ASCAP's commitment to assist and encourage writers of serious music. This year's recipients were selected based upon the unique prestige value of their catalog of original compositions as well as recent performances of the works.
The Yale winners are: Kathryn J. Alexander, assistant professor of music composition and theory; Martin Bresnick, adjunct professor at the School of Music; John G. Halle, assistant professor of music composition and theory; Ezra Laderman, professor of composition, School of Music; Frank Tirro, professor at the School of Music; and Jack Vees, operations director of the Center for Studies in Music Technology, School of Music.
