Yale had the top two finishers at the Connecticut Intercollegiate Championships at Quinnipiac. Freshman Peter Furia (Bellevue, WA) was first in 26:58, and freshman Will Starks (Louisville, KY) was second (27:05).

Senior Jack Lovejoy (Seattle, WA) was the Bulldogs' top finisher at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis. He placed 116th in a 252-runner field with a time of 25:54.


Women's Cross Country (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 22 -- 1st at Connecticut Intercollegiate (17 points)

Sept. 23 -- 2nd at Roy Griak Invitational (127 points)

This Week: Off

The Bulldogs had the top four finishers at the Connecticut Intercollegiate Championships at Quinnipiac. Freshman Rebecca Fausel (Portland, OR) was first in 19:22 followed by freshman Geraldine Smith (Louisville, KY) in 19:28, freshman Madeline Meek (East Setauket, NY) in 19:31 and junior Milligan Grinstead (Brookline, MA) in 19:46.

Yale was second in a 29-team field at the Roy Griak Invitational. Sophomore Kate O'Neill (Milton, MA) was the Bulldogs' top finisher, placing 10th with a time of 21:30. Sophomore Lindsay Mitchell (Woodland Park, CO) was 14th in 21:36, and sophomore Laura O'Neill (Milton, MA) was 15th in 21:36.


Field Hockey (0-6, 0-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 20 -- Fairfield 3, Yale 2 ot

Sept. 24 -- Boston College 2, Yale 1

This Week: Sept. 27 vs. Holy Cross, 4 p.m., Central Avenue Field

Sept. 30 at Cornell, noon

Sophomore Suzanne Anthony (Oklahoma City, OK) scored both Yale goals against Fairfield. She leads the team in scoring with three goals and six points.

Junior Caroline Thompson (Chestnut Hill, MA) had two assists against Fairfield and one against Boston College. She leads the team in assists with five.


Football (1-1, 0-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 23 -- Cornell 24, Yale 23

This Week: Sept. 30 vs. Holy Cross, 1 p.m., Yale Bowl

Senior Eric Johnson (Needham, MA) had nine receptions against Cornell and now has 114 in his career, a new school record.

Senior Rashad Bartholomew (Palos Verdes, CA) rushed for 180 yards against Cornell. He is currently second in I-AA in rushing yards per game (190.5).

The loss to Cornell snapped Yale's 10-game winning streak dating back to last year. It was the longest winning streak in the nation.


Men's Golf (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 23-24 -- 5th at Dartmouth Invitational (580)

This Week: Off

Freshman Alex Fulton (Kingwood, TX) had his second straight third-place finish. He shot a 69 in both rounds to finish with a 138.


Women's Golf (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 23-24 -- 5th at Yale Invitational (650)

This Week: Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Princeton Invitational

Junior Sarah Seo (Lima, OH) was Yale's medalist for the second straight week. She shot a two-round score of 152 at the Yale Invitational to place fourth overall.


Men's Soccer (2-4-0, 0-0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 23 -- Wisconsin-Milwaukee 3, Yale 2

Sept. 24 -- Wisconsin 2, Yale 0

This Week: Sept. 27 at Hartford, 7 p.m.

Sept. 30 at Cornell, 7 p.m.

Because of heavy rain in Milwaukee last Friday, Yale's game with Wisconsin-Milwaukee was postponed until Saturday. That forced the Bulldogs to play two games in two days. Junior Brian Larkin (Troy, MI) and sophomore Jay Alberts (Sunset Hills, MO) scored for the Bulldogs against Milwaukee. Larkin leads the team in scoring with two goals and four points.


Women's Soccer (4-3-1, 0-1-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 20 -- Rhode Island 2, Yale 1

Sept. 24 -- Yale 4, Army 1

This Week: Sept. 26 at Central Connecticut, 3:30 p.m.

Sept. 30 at Cornell, 4 p.m.

Sophomore Chandra King (Mission Viejo, CA) notched her first career hat trick in the victory over Army. Two of her goals came in a 1:08 stretch of the first half.

Junior Sara Ruiz (Davis, CA) had three assists, and freshman Lee Anne Jasper (San Marino, CA) notched her first career assist against Army.


Men's Tennis (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 22-24 -- Cornell Invitational

This Week: Sept. 30-Oct. 1 Yale Invitational

Senior Greg Royce (Rye, NY) captured the A singles crown at the Cornell Invitational. He defeated teammate David Goldman (Miami, FL) in the finals 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. The two then teamed up to reach the final of the A doubles before falling 8-4 to a team from Army.


Women's Tennis (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 22-24 -- Cissie Leary Invitational

This Week: Off

Junior Andrea Goldberg (Albuquerque, NM) reached the semifinals of the Cissie Leary Invitational at Pennsylvania. She lost to top-seeded Danira Penic of Temple in straight sets. Goldberg and sophomore Biffy Kaufman (La Jolla, CA) lost 8-2 to a team from Penn State in the finals of the double draw.

Quinnipiac Invitational

Sept. 29 vs. Rider, 7 p.m.

Sept. 30 vs. Vermont, noon at Quinnipiac

Yale won the Rider Invitational without dropping a game. It was the second consecutive tournament title for the Bulldogs, who won the Yale Invitational on Sept. 16.

Senior Stephanie McMahon (Manhattan Beach, CA) and junior Vanessa Herald (Pasadena, CA) were named to the all-tournament team at the Rider Invitational. McMahon had 10 kills and 11 digs, and Herald added 12 kills and 13 digs against Lehigh.

Freshman Jeannie Davis (Alta Loma, CA) had 10 kills and 12 digs in the victory over Long Island.
