Kenneth L. Wolfe

Hershey Foods CEO to give talks
as a Gordon Grand Fellow

Kenneth L. Wolfe, chair and chief executive officer of Hershey Foods Corporation, will be the featured guest at a master's tea on Thursday, Oct. 12.

He will discuss "The Legacy of Milton Hershey" at 4 p.m. in the Swing Space. Sponsored by Saybrook College, the tea is free and open to the public.

Wolfe will be on campus as the first Gordon Grand Fellow of the 2000-2001 academic year. A 1961 graduate of Yale College and former member of the Yale football team, he will also be meeting informally with current members of the team and other students.

After joining Hershey in 1967, Wolfe was named vice president, finance and chief financial officer in 1981. In 1984 he was named senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the Corporation that same year, then president and chief operating officer the year after that. He became chair and chief executive officer in 1994.

Prior to joining Hershey, Wolfe served in the United States Navy and worked for Bankers Trust Company, New York. Currently a director of Hershey Trust Company and a member of the Board of Managers of the Milton S. Hershey School and the M.S. Hershey Foundation, he is a board member of the Grocery Manufacturers of America, the Pennsylvania Business Roundtable and the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry. He is also a member of Pennsylvania State University's Hershey Medical Center Board of Visitors.

The Gordon Grand Fellowship at Yale promotes dialogue and understanding between today's business leaders and students at Yale. The fellowship was established in 1973 to honor Gordon Grand, a graduate of the Yale College Class of 1938, and president and chief executive officer of the Olin Corporation. During his lifetime, Grand endeavored to bridge the gap between business and academia by actively promoting the exchange of ideas and viewpoints between these sectors. Today, the Gordon Grand Fellowship continues this tradition by inviting prominent business leaders to Yale for one- to three-day visits.
