Faculty to speak at breast cancer symposium

Dr. Raymond Ippolito, clinical instructor of surgery (gastroenterology); Dr. Barbara Ann Burtness, associate professor of internal medicine (medical oncology); and Dr. Deborah A.R. Dillon, associate research scientist in the Department of Pathology, will be featured speakers at Y-ME of Connecticut's Eleventh Annual Breast Cancer Symposium titled "Knowledge and Wellness -- A Theme for 2000."

The free event, which is open to the public, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Hospital of St. Raphael, 1450 Chapel St. Registration is required. To register or for more information, call (203) 483-8200 or (800) 933-4YME.


Organist to perform works by J.S. Bach

Martin Jean, associate professor (adjunct) of organ at the School of Music, continues his presentation of the complete organ works of J.S. Bach with a free concert on Monday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran Church, 305 Saint Ronan St.

Cyrus Hamlin to sign copies of his new books

Cyrus Hamlin, professor in the Departments of Germanic Languages & Literatures and Comparative Literature, will discuss and sign copies of his books "Faust by Goethe," the Norton Critical Edition, and "Hermeneutics of Form," published by Henry Schwab/Doberman Books, on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 4-5:30 p.m., at Book Haven, 290 York St.

Genocide Studies series sponsors talk at Jewish Community Center

The Genocide Studies Program lecture series "Shattered Places: Case Studies in the Wake of Genocide" will continue on Thursday, Oct. 26, with a talk titled "Holocaust Denial as a Legal Phenomenon."

Featured speakers will include Sir Richard Rampton, G.E., senior barrister, United Kingdom; Heather Rogers, barrister, United Kingdom; Tobias Jersak, Cambridge University; and Robert Van Pelt, University of Waterloo, Canada.

Cosponsored by the Yale Center for International and Area Studies and The Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, the talk will take place at 7:30-10 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 360 Amity Rd., Woodbridge.
