Yale faculty will join with other legal scholars and practitioners on Saturday, Nov. 4, to honor the career of Harry H. Wellington, dean emeritus of both the Yale Law School and the New York Law School.
Wellington, who is also Sterling Professor of Law at the former institution and professor of law at the latter, has been a leading scholar in the legal community for over four decades. He is an expert in labor law, constitutional law and legal theory, and contracts. He mentored generations of future lawyers at the Yale Law School, where he served for 36 years and was dean from 1975 to 1985. After becoming dean of the New York Law School in 1992, he helped cement the school's reputation as a leading institution in New York City's legal community.
The tribute to Wellington is sponsored by the New York Law School's Law Review. It will feature panel discussions on such topics as doctrinal law, jurisprudence, legal education, and the present and future state of the legal profession. The participants from Yale will include Anthony T. Kronman, current dean of the Law School, and Professors Akhil Amar, Drew Days, E. Donald Eliot, Ellen Ash Peters and Alan Schwartz.
