Dwight Hall launches fundraising campaign
Dwight Hall at Yale, the Center for Public Service and Social Justice, in collaboration with the University, has launched a major capital campaign to raise $6 million to preserve and renovate the historic Dwight Hall building and to enhance the center's endowment.
The building is the second oldest on the Yale campus and a New Haven landmark. Dwight Hall is the only college community service organization in the country that is entirely student led, while being independent from the university.
Dwight Hall's board of directors approved the immediate start of the capital campaign at its fall board meeting held at the Yale Club in New York City in September.

President Richard C. Levin noted that "Dwight Hall is an important part of the fabric of this University. It continues to strengthen our ties to the City of New Haven and to prepare Yale students for future leadership roles in public and community service."
Deborah Rose, vice chair of the board and chair of its program and facilities committee, said, "Dwight Hall's close relationship with the New Haven community is vital. This is a good time to modernize the infrastructure of our historic building, while assuring the viability of our far-reaching programs."
The mission of Dwight Hall is "to foster civic-minded student leaders and to promote service and advocacy in New Haven and beyond." Dwight Hall is an independent, non-sectarian, non-profit umbrella organization that has worked to promote public service and social justice for over 115 years. Dwight Hall's students have achieved national recognition for their commitment to civic engagement and ethical leadership. They are frequently selected for prestigious awards and fellowships -- earning the Elm-Ivy Award and Rhodes, Marshall and Truman fellowships. Many go on to become leaders in the New Haven community and across the globe.
