School to host third 'Yale M.B.A. Women's Summit' The challenges and opportunities facing women leaders in business will be the focus of the third annual "Yale M.B.A. Women's Summit," sponsored by the School of Management (SOM). The event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Yale Club in New York City. SOM Dean Jeffrey E. Garten will lead a panel discussion featuring the school's faculty, students and alumni. The latter will include Anne Board '79 SOM, director of external relations for McKinsey & Company; Pamela Carlton Hamilton '79 LAW, '80 SOM, president of Learning Curve Partners; Gail Harrity '82 SOM, chief operating officer of the Philadelphia Museum of Art; Mary Lyn Valkenburg Kurish '85 SOM, director of the Equities Division at Goldman Sachs; Ranji Nagaswami '86 SOM, senior portfolio manager for Bernstein Investment Research and Management; Sarah Slusser '88 SOM, senior vice president of The AES Corporation; and Denise Benou Stires '88 SOM, former executive vice president of global marketing and investor services for The NASDAQ Stock Market. SOM will also host a number of on-campus and off-campus events in October that are designed to bring together students, alumni and leaders from the private, non-profit and public sectors. These include: * The First Annual SOM Washington Summit on Thursday, Oct. 16, in Washington, D.C. This event will look at the importance of business leadership in the future and introduce prospective applicants to SOM's mission. In addition to Garten, speakers will include Anne Coyle, director of admissions, and two members of the SOM advisory board: William J. McDonough, chair and chief executive officer of the newly established Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and former president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York; and Reed E. Hundt, senior adviser to McKinsey & Co. and former chair of the Federal Communications Commission. Highlights of this reunion of the first class to graduate from the school will include a panel of current and former faculty members on "What Have We Learned?" and a panel titled "Then and Now" featuring SOM's founding dean, William H. Donaldson, and Garten comparing the school's mission 25 years ago and today. The latter will be moderated by President Richard C. Levin.
