Jordano Quaglia, senior lector in Portuguese, will give a dance exhibition as part of "Bailemos!" a celebration of Latin music and dance to benefit the Neighborhood Music School on Friday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. at the New Haven Lawn Club. Quaglia will be accompanied by his wife Marisa Vilhena in the performance. Members of the Yale Ballroom Dance Team will also perform. Tickets for the event, which includes dinner and live music and dancing, are $150 each. To make reservations, call (203) 624-5189, ext. 24, by October 8. the Neighborhood Music School is among the 10 largest non-profit community schools of the arts in the United States.

Bettyann Holtzmann Kevles, lecturer in history, will discuss and sign copies of her new book at the Yale Bookstore, 77 Broadway, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Titled "Almost Heaven: The Story of Women in Space," Kevles's book depicts the struggles and triumphs of the women from the U.S. and the Soviet Union who aspired to fly in space.

Dolores Hayden, professor of architecture and American studies, will appear at a book signing party at Book Haven, 290 York St., on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Hayden's new book is titled "Building Suburbia: Green Fields and Urban Growth 1820-2000."
