The Department of Genetics is sponsoring a symposium on Friday, Sept. 10, honoring Dr. Charles M. Radding, professor of genetics and molecular biophysics and biochemistry, who is retiring after 37 years at Yale.
Titled "The Past, Present and Future of Recombination: A Symposium Celebrating the Career of Charles Radding," the symposium will bring together current and past Yale faculty colleagues and prominent outside experts in the field -- including Matthew Meselson and Frank Stahl whose demonstration of the semi-conservative model for replication was postulated in Watson and Crick's model of DNA.
A member of the National Academy of Sciences, Radding is a pioneer in the study of genetic recombination and its roles in inheritance and chromosome segregation, as well as in repair of DNA, replication, regulation and differentiation.
The program in his honor will begin at 9 a.m. in the Anlyan Center auditorium, 300 Cedar St. The event is free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required. For further information, contact Adrian Roselle at (203) 785-2649.
