Event honors individuals who have
contributed to women's health

Gloria Steinem, an American journalist and leader in the women's rights movement, and Roslyn Milstein Meyer '71 B.A., '73 M.S., '77 Ph.D., a co-founder of the Leadership, Education and Athletic Partnership, will be honored on Thursday, April 21, by Women's Health Research at Yale.

Women's Health Research will present "Women of Vision" awards to Steinem and Meyer, who is also co-founder of New Haven's International Festival of Arts and Ideas, at a dinner being held 5:30-9 p.m. at the Omni Hotel in New Haven, 155 Temple St.

"Our program honors members of the community who have demonstrated an outstanding and abiding commitment to improving the health of women, and it is a great pleasure to honor these two women who have made such extraordinary contributions to women's health and lives," says Carolyn Mazure, psychiatry professor, associate dean of faculty affairs and director of Women's Health Research at the School of Medicine.

The event, "From Vision to Innovation: Women's Health Research at Yale," is held annually to celebrate the scientific accomplishments of the research program and to recognize its close collaboration with the community by honoring those who advance the health of women.

Women's Health Research at Yale is the largest interdisciplinary research program of its kind in the nation. The program is committed to generating new and useful scientific knowledge about women's health. The results of the program's studies are communicated to healthcare providers and scientists, and are actively shared with women in the community.

The April 21 event is open to the public. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $150 per person. To make reservations, call the program office at (203) 764-6600, or send an e-mail to WHResearch@yale.edu.
