Yale honors 116 staff members at
Long-Service Recognition Dinner

The University paid tribute to some of its longest-serving employees at a dinner held on April 11 in University Commons.

The staff members honored at the annual Long-Service Recognition Dinner are marking 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years of service at the University. Each was given a certificate and a gift commensurate with years of service. The event also featured a video of honorees' photos and names, as well as a printed program book with short biographies and photos.

This year 236 staff were honored. Of that group 116 have 25 years of service, 87 have reached the 30-year milestone, 24 have 35 years of service, 8 have 40 years, and one, John Beierle, has reached the 45-year mark.

Beierle is senior analyst at Human Relations Area Files Inc. (HRAF), a non-profit research agency affliated with Yale since 1949. There, he reads about 3,000 pages a year as he indexes the texts included in HRAF's annual updates of its Collections of Ethnography and Archaeology, two databases designed to facilitate worldwide comparative studies of human society, culture and behavior.
