Yale professor wins Grammy

"And the Grammy goes to ..." These were the words heard in person at the Los Angeles awards ceremony by John Szwed, the John M. Musser Professor of Anthropology and African American Studies, who says he was "stunned" when his name was then announced as the winner of the 2006 Grammy Award in the "Best Album Notes" category.

to oversee campus development

President Richard C. Levin has announced that Bruce Alexander, vice president and director of the University's Office of New Haven and State Affairs, has agreed to assume permanent responsibility at Yale for the oversight and management of facilities planning, construction, renovation and operations.

New center to help hone public health workers' response to disasters

To ensure that the public health workforce in Connecticut and beyond is able to mount a swift, coordinated response to disasters, acts of terrorism and disease outbreaks, the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) will use a $4.5 million, five-year grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to establish the Yale Center for Public Health Preparedness.
