Yale senior awarded Overseas Press Club Foundation Scholarship

Zvika Krieger, a senior in Yale College, was awarded a $2,000 Overseas Press Club (OPC) Foundation Scholarship last month.

OPC Foundation awards are given to journalism students who aspire to become foreign correspondents. Krieger was among 12 students from a pool of more than 175 applicants from 65 different colleges and universities selected by a panel of leading journalists.

Krieger won the Emanuel R. Freedman Scholarship, named for the renowned foreign editor of The New York Times.

Henley is chosen as next football captain

Wide receiver Chandler Henley has been elected captain of the 2006 football team by a player vote.

Henley, a three-year letterwinner, missed this past season with a broken collarbone suffered in preseason practice. In 2004 he led the team with six touchdown receptions and finished second with 49 catches for 716 yards. He also returned 26 punts, for 172 yards, and had a long of 41 yards.
