There are several ways for members of the Yale and New Haven communities to listen to the address by President Hu Jintao of the People's Republic of China on Friday, April 21.
Hu, who is coming to Yale as part of his first visit to the United States, will speak at 11:30 a.m. in Sprague Memorial Hall, 470 College St. Because there is limited seating within the hall itself, his speech will be broadcast live on the Yale Cable service, both in English (on Channel 10) and in Chinese (Channel 14). In addition, Citizens Television and Comcast of New Haven will be cablecasting the English-only version on Comcast Channel 26.
Members of the Yale community with a netID will be able to access a live stream of the speech in both English and Chinese.
Details on the web-streaming and information on other aspects of Hu's visit can be found at www.yale.edu/opa/hu.
The public is invited to attend a panel discussion later that day on "China Today," in which Yale faculty members will present their reflections and insights on Hu's talk.
The event will be held at 3 p.m. in Battell Chapel, corner of Elm and College streets. The featured speakers will include Harold Koh, Deborah Davis, Paul Gewirtz, Frances Rosenbluth, Ernesto Zedillo and Ian Shapiro (moderator). For further information on the panel discussion, visit www.yale.edu/opa/hu/panelDiscussion.html.
