Art & Architecture Library taking up
temporary residence on Crown Street

The Arts & Architecture Library will soon take up temporary headquarters on Crown Street.

On Friday, June 16, the library will close its doors at its current location on the first floor of the Arts & Architecture (A&A) Building at 180 York St. It will reopen at its "swing space" location at 270 Crown St. on Wednesday, July 5.

It is expected that the library will remain on Crown Street through September of 2008.

During that time, renovations will be completed at the A&A Building, originally designed by Paul Rudolph, as will new construction of the adjoining History of Art Building designed by Charles Gwathmey of Gwathmey and Siegel Architects.

Charney Architects of New Haven have transformed what was once the home of Haskins Laboratories (and, prior to that, a dance hall) into a spacious temporary home for the A&A Library.

For further information about the closure, contact Hannah Bennett, interim assistant director, at (203) 436-8052; or Christine de Vallet, interim director, at (203) 432-2642.
