Career Fair to highlight jobs
in federal government agencies

A series of events next week will focus firmly on the middle theme of the slogan "For God, for Country and for Yale."

Several career services offices on campus have organized a Federal Career Fair and government job-related programming Wednesday-Friday, Oct. 26-28.

"Yale graduates have a long history of government service," note the organizers of the event. "Numerous U.S. presidents and legislators and even more civil servants have graduated from Yale and gone to work in Washington, across the country and around the world as researchers, intelligence agents, environmentalists, financial analysts, historians, engineers, computer scientists, public health managers, etc."

The events, which are open to all students free of charge, will include:

* "Out of the Forest: Government and Non-Academic Jobs for PhDs," a talk by Alexandra Lord, acting historian at the U.S. Public Health Service, on Oct. 26 at 4:30 p.m. in Rm. 119, Hall of Graduate Studies (HGS), 320 York St.

* U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Information Session, presented by Millicent E.F. Muschette of USAID, on Oct. 27 at noon at 47 College St.

* "Yale for Country: Alumni in Government," a panel featuring alumni from Yale College, the Yale Center for International and Area Studies (YCIAS), the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies (F&ES) and the Graduate School, on Oct. 27, 4:30-6 p.m. in Rm. 119, HGS

* Federal Career Day at Yale, on Oct. 28, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Omni New Haven Hotel, 155 Temple St. Representatives from some 25 government agencies will provide information on career, internship and fellowship opportunities. Participating areas include defense, intelligence, public health, international affairs, environmental policy, science and energy.

The program of activities was organized jointly by the career offices of F&ES, the Graduate School, the School of Management, the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, YCIAS, and Yale College, as well as Wesleyan University and Connecticut College.
