YUWO lecture series to feature Alan Plattus

The Yale University Women's Organization (YUWO) will host a series of five lectures by Alan Plattus, professor of architecture and urbanism.

Titled "Constructing the Public Realm: Urban Space and Its Uses," the series will be held on Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 21, at the New Haven Lawn Club, 193 Whitney Ave. Each lecture will begin at 10:30 a.m.

The series will explore the interrelationship of urban space, public art and civic action in five eras of western urban history.

The series is open to members of YUWO and their guests. The fee for the series is $50 per person. For more information, call (203) 288-9810.


Event to examine advances in diagnosis, treatment of lung cancer

The School of Medicine and the Nevada Cancer Institute will sponsor the first annual John R. Murren Memorial Symposium in April.

The symposium, "Advances in Thoracic Oncology," will be held at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Wednesday-Friday, April 11-13.

Dr. John Murren was among the founders of both the Yale Cancer Center Thoracic Oncology Program and the Nevada Cancer Institute. The symposium will feature 10 renowned national and international faculty who will provide evidence-based education to multidisciplinary clinicians involved in the screening, diagnosis and treatment of patients with lung cancer and abnormal scans of the chest.
