Website offers info on Yale's environmental, sustainability efforts The University has launched a new website, "Environment and Sustainability at Yale," to provide an easy-to-use resource of academic programs, sustainability initiatives, community organizations and people working in this field. Visitors to the website -- at www.yale.edu/environ -- can find information on a wide range of faculty research on the environment, environmental publications at Yale and the various environmental educational opportunities for students. All of the aspects of Yale's commitment to operate a green campus are also presented, along with related news and events, and information about Yale people and organizations focused on environmental issues. Gus Speth, dean of the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (F&ES), suggested creating the site to help members of the campus community and visitors learn about the range of environmental activities at Yale. Previously, because much of this work is distributed across the University, noted Speth, it could be difficult to find information as well as to understand the scope of environmental teaching and research at Yale as well as its sustainability projects and community initiatives. The information on the website was assembled by Tom Conroy, deputy director of public affairs; Donald Filer, associate secretary; Yukiko Ichishima, a 2006 graduate of F&ES; Julie Newman, director of the Office of Sustainability; and Paul Smith, former web coordinator at F&ES. They worked with Nick Appleby, web developer at Reprographics & Imaging Services, to create the site.
