The School of Music is launching a new concert series called Vista, which is designed to offer audiences a fresh look at chamber music.
Vista will present the full range of chamber music literature, from Baroque to the 21st century, in an informal atmosphere in which Yale students will engage the audience not only with their performances, but often with commentary about the music they are about to perform.
Each group on the program has been coached by one or more members of the School of Music's artist faculty. All the concerts will be presented in Sprague Hall, corner of Wall and College streets.
The new series is presented by the School of Music's Chamber Music Program, which is directed by Wendy Sharp, herself a renowned violinist and chamber musician.
The first concert in the Vista series will take place on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m. Other concerts will be presented on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 11, at 4 p.m.; and Thursday, April 12, at 8 p.m. Admission to all Vista concerts is free, and the public is invited.
