Conference to explore modern Chinese literature

Jing Tsu, assistant professor of East Asian languages and literatures, is one of the organizers of “Globalizing Modern Chinese Literature: Sinophone and Diasporic Writings,” a conference to be held next month at Harvard University. Public conference sessions will begin on Friday, Dec. 7. A closed dinner reception will take place on Thursday night. The event will be held in the Common Room, 2 Divinity Ave., in Cambridge.


Alexander Schenker is honored for his contributions to Slavic studies and for shaping field of Slavic linguistics

Alexander M. Schenker, professor emeritus of Slavic linguistics, received the Distinguished Contributions to Slavic Studies Award from the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies (AAASS).

Schenker received the award for “his important contributions to the field of Polish language and literature, for his further scholarly work in 18th-century cultural history, and for his pioneering role in shaping the development of Slavic linguistics as a scholarly field in the United States.”

The AAASS is a leading private, non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about Russia, Central Eurasia, and Eastern and Central Europe.
