It takes two
Seventh-graders in the Worthington Hooker School learned the old truism that “it
takes two to tango” during a visit by a Yale School of Music ensemble
on Jan. 30.
The event was part of an outreach program in New Haven Public Schools run by
the School of Music through a fund created by the Yale College Class of 1957
in order “to promote music education in public elementary and secondary
schools in the United States.”
After Yale students Linda Alila and Patrick Grey gave a demonstration of the
dance form, they paired with volunteers from the Hooker School audience. In the
photo above, Alila dances with Canaan Murphy (foreground), and Grey is paired
with Bianca Washington.
