Chinese ‘Year of the Rat’ celebrated at Yale

The Association of Chinese Students and Scholars at Yale (ACSSY) marked the beginning of the “Year of the Rat” with a celebration that included music, dance and cultural activities.

The event, titled “2008 Chinese Culture Night,” was held on Feb. 17 — 10 days after the official start of the Chinese New Year.

The event included a photography exhibit about the 2008 Olympics being held in Beijing and a signature campaign in support of China’s hosting of the Games; fundraising for victims of the recent snow storm in China, called the worst in five decades; a display of Chinese calligraphy; and performances of the traditional “lion dance” and more.
