Ceremony to honor memory of former YDS faculty member
A tree planting and reception will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30, in memory of Lana Schwebel, assistant professor
of religion and literature at Yale Divinity School (YDS) and the Institute of
Sacred Music (ISM).
The ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Sterling Divinity Quadrangle, 409
Prospect St. It will be followed by a reception in the Great Hall at ISM. All
are welcome to attend.
Schwebel, who taught at Yale 2002-2006, died in a car accident on July 7 while
traveling abroad. The funeral was held on July 11 in Forest Hills, New York.
From 2006 until her death, Schwebel was assistant professor of English at Stern
College of Yeshiva University.
