WILLIAM H. McKIM PRIZE

The William H. McKim Prize is awarded each year to a senior who has shown improvement in his or her academic standing and who has made a significant contribution outside the classroom. This year's recipient was Bryan Mark Rigg of Silliman College, who was described as "a scholar and an athlete with an overriding curiosity and perseverance" by Dr. Bernard Lytton, chair of the Council of Masters Award Committee and master of Jonathan Edwards College, who made the presentation during Senior Class Day exercises on May 26.

The award citation follows:

As a freshman, you played varsity football, but your football career was curtailed by an injury. After the first year, your academic work blossomed; you completed a double major in history and English and have been awarded a Henry Fellowship to Cambridge University in England. Your research on Jews in the German military during the Second World War is described by your advisor as "brilliant and ground-breaking in the field of German studies." You have been a member of the Tae Kwon Do team and have taught self-defense classes in Silliman. For your outstanding scholarship as an upperclassman and your numerous contributions to life in your college and at Yale, the Council of Masters is pleased to award you the McKim Prize.
