Employees invited to annual holiday hotel tour

Like the tangy scent of snow in the air, the flicker of lighted candles and the rustle of gift-wrapping, a sure sign that the holiday season is near is the announcement that Yale Conference Services is again planning its annual tour of the Elm City's major inns and lodgings.

Now in its seventh year, the Hotels of New Haven Holiday Tour is designed for Yale faculty and staff who routinely arrange accommodations for visiting guests or who are planning conferences using hotel meeting and banquet spaces. It offers these employees an opportunity to learn first-hand about the services that the city's hotels can provide for guests, to meet the staff members there and to see recent improvements at these facilities.

This year's tour will take place 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Buses will pick up participants at two campus locations: 333 Cedar St. and Woolsey Hall, corner of Grove and College streets. The first stop will the be the New Haven Hotel, where there will be a tour, followed by lunch. Participants can then choose between two tours. The Red Tour will visit Howard Johnson's and Residence Inn in the Long Wharf area, while the Green Tour will head for the downtown area, where it will stop at Colony Inn and the Holiday Inn at Yale. Both tours will reconvene at the Quality Inn & Conference Center for a tour, a "dessert extravaganza" and raffle prize drawings. Each participant will also receive a holiday gift from the New Haven Hotel Association.

Reservations are required. To R.S.V.P., call Roberta Hudson, conference coordinator, at 432-0465.
