Potential business opportunities in Taiwan to be discussed

Representatives from a firm that has been developing bilateral trade and investments between the United States and Taiwan for 30 years will visit the School of Management to discuss the economic outlook of the Republic of China and possible business and career opportunities within the country on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 4 p.m. in the General Motors Room in Horchow Hall, 55 Hillhouse Ave.

The featured speakers hail from the Investment and Trade Office of the Tapei Economic and Cultural Representative Office -- TECRO. The enterprise is part of the Coordination Council for North American Affairs, which represents the interests of the government of the Republic of China in the United States. For the past 30 years, TECRO has been putting individuals or corporations who want to do business in Taiwan in touch with the people and information who can make that possible.

TECRO can provide information regarding investment opportunities, incentives and regulations in Taiwan; assist in establishing contacts with appropriate Taiwan counterparts; offer aid in locating new resources in Taiwan and identifying potential joint- ventures in virtually any industry; help with procedural formalities required in making an investment, setting up contact with local suppliers or locating land for a factory; and highlight areas of potential business cooperation between Taiwan and the United States.

Leading the presentation will be V.C. Chu, director of the TECRO Investment and Trade Office in New York City.
