UNIVERSITY INFORMATION

This special supplement to the Yale Bulletin & Calendar has information about services and activities available to all members of the Yale community. In addition, this supplement contains the text of the Buckley Amendment, which details the University's policy on the rights of students regarding their educational records. We suggest you keep this issue as a handy reference throughout the year.

Sources of Information

Visitor Information Center

The Visitor Information Center, located at 149 Elm St., answers inquiries about Yale and provides University maps, books, postcards and a schedule of guided tours. It is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.- 4:45 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tours of central campus leave from the center Monday-Friday at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Tours are free and last approximately one hour and 15 minutes. For further information, call 432-2300.

The visitors' center is responsible for processing telephone queries from around the globe. The office does not provide Yale telephone information; to obtain University telephone numbers, call 432-4771.

Yale Bulletin & Calendar

The Yale Bulletin & Calendar - YB&C - is published weekly during the academic year - except during recess periods - by the Office of Public Affairs. It contains news of Yale people and programs, as well as listings of campus activities. Announcements and calendar entries for the YB&C are due by noon on Friday, 10 days before the issue date. Classified ads are due by noon on Thursday, 11 days before the issue date. For information about how to submit copy, call the Office of Public Affairs at 432-1333. Calendar entry forms, classified ad forms and a schedule of production dates and deadlines are available at the office. The YB&C can be mailed to homes or offices for a subscription fee of $27 per year. For subscriptions, call 432-1333 or stop by the Office of Public Affairs at 433 Temple St.

Student Publications

The Yale Daily News, the nation's "oldest college daily," and the Yale Herald, a weekly newspaper, are both operated by undergraduates. The publications are distributed throughout the University and are another source of information on day-to-day events.
