Gala will precede final show

"Hello Thornton!", a gala benefit for Hamden's Miller Memorial Library, will take place on Saturday, March 15, at 6 p.m. at the Yale Repertory Theatre, corner of Chapel and York streets. The event coincides with the final performance of Wilder's play "The Skin of Our Teeth"at the Rep. "Hello Thornton!" will feature a champagne reception, during which the Hamden High School Swing Choir will perform selections from "Hello Dolly!", the musical version of Wilder's play "The Matchmaker." The final performance of "The Skin of Our Teeth" will follow at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50 and can be reserved by calling Judy Nilsson at 432-1595 or the Miller Library at 287-2680.

The gala is part of several campus events celebrating the centennial of the birth of Wilder, who earned his B.A. from Yale in 1920. The playwright, novelist and essayist was a longtime Hamden resident.The Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library will host a special exhibition of Wilder family memorabilia, letters and papers during the summer months.
