Business leaders to help SOM chart future strategy
The list of executives -- a number of them Yale graduates --
who will serve on the new School of Management SOM Advisory
Board reads like a "Who's Who" of the business world.
"Our plan is to put the Board at the center of our mission of
educating leaders for business and society," says SOM Dean Jeffrey E.
Garten. "We intend for this distinguished group to be an exceedingly
active board, helping us to chart our strategy for a brutally
competitive global economy."
The board will be chaired by William H. Donaldson '53 B.A.,
the founding dean of SOM and former chair and chief executive
officer of the New York Stock Exchange, who is cofounder and senior
adviser of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
The other board members are:

- Roberto C. Goizueta '53 B.E., chair and CEO, The Coca-Cola

In addition, William S. Beinecke '36 B.A., formerly of
Antaeus Enterprises, Inc., will serve as an honorary member of the
new advisory board.
SOM, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, has seen its number
of applications rise by 30 percent since 1995. It rose from number
18 to number 15 in a recent USA Today ranking of the nation's
business schools.
