Conference to explore how globalization of business affects today's women managers

A day-long conference focusing on the globalization of business and its impact on women in management will be held on Friday, April 4, at the School of Management SOM.

Titled "Women in Business: Working in a Global Economy," the conference is sponsored by The Women's Student Group at SOM and will be held at 55 Hillhouse Ave.

The morning session, titled "Merging and Emerging Economies: The Driving Force of Change," will examine recent developments in Latin America, China, India, Europe, Russia and Africa. The afternoon session, "Challenges, Rewards and Dilemmas: Women in Demanding Careers," will include three workshops: "Shaping Corporate Images Across Frontiers," "In Search of the Perfect Cup of Coffee: Traversing the Globe" and "Crafting Global Strategy."

Highlighting the activities will be talks by Roberta Arena, executive vice president of the Europe/North America Card Group of Citicorp, and by Judith Sprieser, senior vice president and chief financial officer for Sara Lee Corporation. Also participating will be representatives from PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Exxon and Starbucks Coffee, among others.

Admission to the conference is $15 for students and $30 for all others; the fee includes breakfast and lunch. There is an additional $10 charge for those who wish to attend a dinner on the evening of the conference.
