The New Haven Symphony Orchestra NHSO will perform patriotic music to honor Connecticut war veterans and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force on Sunday, May 25, at 5 p.m. at the Shubert Theater, 247 College St. Yale is one of the cosponsors of the special event in celebration of Memorial Day.
Peter Sacco will direct the NHSO in the concert, which follows the 129th annual Memorial Day ceremony at 3 p.m. on the New Haven Green. The concert is free and open to the public.
"We hope the concert will encourage more families to join with us on that day as we pay tribute to the heroes of our nation," says New Haven Mayor John DeStefano.
Other concert sponsors are The Fusco Corporation, People's Bank, New Haven Savings Bank, the Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee and the Shubert Theater.
