Students to discuss their summers of research into global health-care issues

Students in Yale's public health, medical and nursing programs spent last summer doing research on health-care issues in such far-flung corners of the globe as Vietnam, Chile, Poland, Zimbabwe and Australia.

Those students -- this year's Wilbur G. Downs International Health Travel Fellows -- will discuss their experiences and reveal their findings on Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the Laboratory of Epidemiology and Public Health (LEPH).

The Downs Fellows will discuss their work at a poster session at 4 p.m. in the first-floor lobby of LEPH. Three of the students will describe their projects in detail at 5 p.m. in the Winslow Auditorium of LEPH. A wine and cheese reception will follow at 6 p.m. All three events are free and open to the public.

The Downs Fellowship is named in honor of the late Wilbur G. Downs, former professor of epidemiology, who developed the international health program in Yale's department of epidemiology and public health.
