Medical school affiliates are named fellows of CURE

J.G. Collins, professor of anesthesiology and lecturer in pharmacology at the School of Medicine, and Helaine Patterson, director of public information at the medical school, are among seven individuals selected to become fellows of Connecticut United for Research Excellence, Inc. (CURE).

CURE -- a not-for-profit coalition of some 70 education, health, business and research institutions, organizations or agencies -- encourages awareness and education about a wide range of issues associated with biomedical research and biotechnology, including their health and economic benefits, careers in the life sciences and the responsible care and use of laboratory animals. Mr. Collins founded BioRAP®, a CURE-sponsored life sciences learning publication for middle-school students.
